We began the half term with the story Willy the Wimp, the role play was transformed into a gym and the children learnt how to be brave and strong The children told me that to be brave and strong you needed to have courage. They wrote letters to Willy the Wimp giving him advise on how he can become brave and strong like them.
We then moved to the story of Halibut Jackson, in this story the role play was transformed into a drapery. Children were able to design their own clothes and had lots of fun dressing up. Halibut Jackson was shy and he didn’t like to stand out. The children wrote invitations and had their very own tea party. They then wrote their own stories in the style of Halibut Jackson about a character called Cod Benson.
We were really impressed with their story writing, here are a few examples of some pages from their stories.

Wow, we have had a busy week in the Foundation Stage. On Tuesday we were visited by Kelvin from the church who told us a story about Harvest and the good seeds that grew and the bad ones that couldn’t grow. We told him the story of the ‘Little Red Hen’. We also talked about harvest and the exciting things that would happen to the food we collected in school.
We also created self portraits in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. (Photo’s to follow)

The children began a new topic this term. They had fun guessing the topic from clues they were given. Was it Little Red Riding Hood? Rapunzel? Autumn?
The children then looked at non-standard measuring and investigated how long or wide objects from the story were.
