Tracey Corderoy & Steven Lenton visit yr R, 1, 2 and 3

This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from the author and illustrator of the ‘Shifty McGifty and Slippery Sam’ books Tracey Corderoy and Steven Lenton to our yr R, 1, 2 and 3 children. They even brought the real life Shifty and Sam along so we could meet them in person.

Tracey told us that Shifty and Sam used to be bad characters just like the Wicked Witch and she then read the first book in the series which showed how they turned from bad robber dogs to bakers after realising the errors of their ways.

Tracey and Steven were so impressed that as the story was being read to the children lots of them were joining in because they knew the book so well after sharing in class during World Book Week.

Steven who illustrates the books showed us how he draws one of the characters Sam and the children drew alongside him and created some amazing pictures. He was really impressed with what a fantastic job they had done!

Tracey and Steven then played a racing game with the children with half of them on Team Sam’s side with Tracey and the other half on Team Shifty’s side with Steven.

After a very noisy and energetic game Team Sam and Tracey were declared the winners!

A huge thank you to FOWPS for supporting this visit and to Tracey and Steven for visiting the school it was such an inspiring and entertaining afternoon.
