Abi Elphinstone

This week we were so lucky to be able to speak to our ‘Patron of Reading’- Abi Elphinstone via Skype (thank you Mrs Clarke!)

Abi has challenged year 5 and 6 to an AMAZING competition with a FANTASTIC prize.

You have to either:

  • Write the opening chapter to a story set by the sea
  • Write a poem about the sea
  • Create a piece of art using the sea as inspiration

Three lucky winners will win tickets to the launch of Abi’s second book, ‘THE SHADOW KEEPER’, and win signed copies of her new book before they’ve even hit UK bookshelves!

What a fantastic opportunity, so please, please, please enter- there are some very creative Kingfishers!

Entries to Mrs Clarke by 15th February.

Masterchef- The Big Reveal

Welcome back in 2016!!

We had a very exciting first day back as it was finally revealed to year 5 that their topic this half term is Masterchef.

The children came in from lunch to discover a mystery box on each table. This box contained several ingredients, and the teams worked together to create something original and creative, that looked fab  and was presented well- The Mystery Box Challenge.

The children put in a lot of effort to impress their judges (myself and Mr Emery), and seemed to be having an enjoyable and exciting start to their topic.

Here are some pictures…
