Harvest

Wow, we have had a busy week in the Foundation Stage. On Tuesday we were visited by Kelvin from the church who told us a story about Harvest and the good seeds that grew and the bad ones that couldn’t grow. We told him the story of the ‘Little Red Hen’. We also talked about harvest and the exciting things that would happen to the food we collected in school.

We also created self portraits in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. (Photo’s to follow)

Finally phonics this week is: i, n, m and d. Next week week shall be learning g, o, c and k.

On Monday afternoon we are hoping (weather permitting) to go on an Autumn walk around the school grounds. Please remember to have wellies in school. Thank you.

Keep following us.

New Beginnings

A brand new cohort have arrived at Whitchurch primary School. Penguin, Puffin and Pelican Classes have welcomed a fantastic set of children who have settled in really quickly.

Already we have been busy, making friends, learning our way around a huge school, finding out where things are, having lunch, meeting new grown-ups, meeting the animals, staying all day and having lots of fun!

This week we started phonics and have learnt S, A, T and P (s,a,t,p).
Next week our new letters are I, N, M and D (i,n,m,d).

Please visit us regularly to see pictures of our hard work and find out what we are getting up to in our first year at school.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

The children began a new topic this term.  They had fun guessing the topic from clues they were given.  Was it Little Red Riding Hood? Rapunzel? Autumn?

The children then looked at non-standard measuring and investigated how long or wide objects from the story were.

We are starting all the festivities and the class looks great and sparkly with lights and cards hanging up.
